Haddee Success Spotlight: These Haddee Interns Are Headed to Cornell
Two Haddee interns, Amy and Ivy, on choosing Cornell’s College of Human Ecology and ILR School and what drew them to Ithaca.

The period of time in high school when we apply to colleges is the most stressful time of our lives—point blank, period. We all know it’s true. Throughout our childhood, our academic goals are largely small-scale; we just need to get good enough grades so that our parents won’t get mad at us. But once we reach high school, that all changes. Suddenly everything we do is centered around the singular goal of getting into a good college. And because the college we get into could potentially shape the rest of our lives, our entire career and life path hinge on whether or not we accomplish this goal—or at least that’s how it seems. So if there’s anything we can do to increase our odds of getting into a good school, we pounce on it, because we know that it could make all the difference.
Enter Haddee’s internship program. Haddee is proud to offer numerous virtual internships for high school students. We have a wide variety of opportunities available in fields like computer science, engineering, writing, web design, and social media management and marketing. These internships are available year-round, and many of them do not require any previous experience. Not only do they provide valuable experience that can help you in your future career, but they also look great on a resume or college application. And right now, two of our Haddee interns—Amy G. and Ivy—are headed to the school of their dreams: Cornell University.
Cornell is a private university based in Ithaca, New York. A member of the Ivy League, Cornell primarily focuses on research. Cornell is best known for the wide variety of areas of instruction that it offers; its founder, Ezra Cornell, famously said he wanted to “found an institution where any person can find instruction in any study.” This wide breadth of study is what attracted Ivy to the school, and now she is planning to study at Cornell’s School of Industrial and Labor Relations (ILR). She was especially drawn to ILR’s official motto: “one major, endless possibilities.”
“The all-encompassing curriculum design covers all of my interests,” Ivy says. “Business, law, economics, human resource studies, and sociology.”
Whatever field you want to go into, Cornell can probably get you started. Because it offers high-quality, in-depth instruction in so many different subject areas, it is likely that they will be able to start you down your chosen career path. Amy found this to be true when she was applying to Cornell, as the College of Human Ecology offered a program that appealed to her.
“Cornell’s specific major of Design and Environmental Analysis appealed to me because it offered depth and breadth in user interface and user experience, the field I want to pursue in the future,” she says.
But the appeal of Cornell doesn’t just end with the campus itself. The surrounding town of Ithaca is gorgeous and has lots of things to do while still maintaining that small-town feel. It is most famous for its trees, which turn bright orange during the autumn season, attracting many residents of New York City to make the journey upstate to see them. However, the town maintains its beauty year-round. Both Ivy and Amy cited the surrounding community as a reason why they were attracted to Cornell.
“I’m really attracted to the beautiful location with a nice college town feel,” Amy says.
Overall, though, neither Ivy nor Amy chose Cornell for any one reason over the other schools that they were accepted to. They both saw it as a superior school in most categories. The reasons they give for picking Cornell show that it offered almost every advantage they were looking for and that they view it as a well-rounded, high-quality school that stood head and shoulders over the other options that they had.
“I chose this school because it contains everything I was looking for: a close-knit community, ample opportunities, experienced faculty, and a distinguished reputation,” Ivy says.
Both Ivy and Amy are set to begin attending Cornell in the fall of 2022. They are nervous but excited at the same time. They are already beginning to imagine what they will do once they finally reach the Cornell campus. Ivy looks forward to making new friends, while Amy anticipates trying the ice cream at the Cornell Dairy Bar, made on campus; also, as a lifelong Californian, she is excited to finally see some snow!
Haddee is proud to congratulate Ivy and Amy on getting into the college of their dreams, and we welcome any new, talented high schoolers who want to join our team as interns. Whether you’re looking for something that will help you get into college or you just want some experience to prepare yourself for your career, Haddee’s internships are a great opportunity. And because our internships are virtual and cover a wide variety of job types, no matter where you live or what you want to get experience in, there’s a good chance that Haddee has an internship for you.
