About Dr. Rutledge

I provide individualized tutoring in reading, writing, study skills, AP English Language, AP English Literature, and SAT/ACT preparation for middle school, high school, and college students. My tutoring experience includes working with students at varying academic levels, with different learning needs and educational goals, both in person and online. My instructional approach begins with identifying each student's strengths, challenges, and learning goals through informal assessments, data analysis, and discussion. Using this information, I develop personalized learning plans that target specific skill gaps while building confidence and independence. I incorporate evidence-based literacy practices, explicit instruction, modeling, guided practice, and frequent feedback to support student learning. During tutoring sessions, I create a supportive learning environment where students actively engage in problem-solving, critical thinking, and reflection. I regularly monitor progress and adjust instruction based on student performance and needs. Whether preparing students for standardized assessments, strengthening reading and writing skills, or improving study habits, my goal is to help learners achieve measurable growth while building the strategies they need for long-term academic success. I offer support for: - AP English Language - AP English Literature - SAT Reading/Writing - PSAT Verbal - ACT English/Reading/Writing - SSAT/ISSE Verbal
